Dopamine transporter and idiopathic rapid eye movement behavior disorder

Takeaway

  • A comparison of those with or without idiopathic rapid eye movement (REM) behavior disorder (RBD) did not identify any basic clinical predictors of dopamine transporter (DAT) binding abnormalities.

Why this matters ?

  • DAT binding deficits are associated with progression to Parkinson’s disease and other α-synuclein-related disorders, thus identification of factors associated with DAT in people with RBD would be useful.
